  1. 1.      VISAS

Airport transit visa (type A) - allows entering the international area of ​​airports and staying until boarding the plane to the country of destination.

Exceptions to the obligation to hold an airport transit visa:

The following categories of persons are exempt from the obligation to hold an airport transit visa:

• aircraft crew members;

• holders of diplomatic passports and service passports or similar;

• holders of a valid residence permit or equivalent document issued by a member state of the European Union or the United States of America;

• holders of a valid visa issued by a member state of the European Union or the United States of America.

Requirements and supporting documents for obtaining type A visa:

1. Passport (issued in the last ten years) whose validity exceeds by at least 3 months the expected date for leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova;

2. Authorization (visa) to enter the territory of a third country (except for foreigners who do not need a visa for that country);

3. A photo of 35mm x 45mm, color, matte;

4. Air ticket valid to the destination;

5. Consular fee – 78 AED.

Transit visa (type B)

The requirements and supporting documents for obtaining a type B visa:

1. Application form (download)

2. Passport (issued within the last ten years) whose validity exceeds by at least 3 months the expected date for leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova;

3. A color photograph, 35mm x 45mm;

4. The authorization (visa) to enter the territory of a third country and, if applicable, of a bordering state of the Republic of Moldova, which allows foreigners to continue their journey, except for foreigners moving to a third country for which they do not need visa;

5. The travel ticket valid to the destination (both plane and bus/train ticket) or the driver's license, the green card and the registration documents of the means of transport;

6. Consular fee – 156 AED.

Short-stay visa (type C) - allows foreigners to request entry to the territory of the Republic of Moldova, for reasons other than immigration, for an uninterrupted stay or for several stays whose duration does not exceed 90 days during any 180-day period of days preceding each day of stay on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. This type of visa can be issued with one or more entries.

 Short-stay visas are granted depending on the purpose of the trip to the Republic of Moldova. The following types of short-stay visas are issued:

mission - to foreigners who perform functions within governments, public administrations or international organizations, as well as to those who, through the purpose of their stay in the Republic of Moldova, are interested in the relations between it and the state of belonging. This type of visa can also be issued to accompanying family members;

tourism - foreigners who are going to travel to the Republic of Moldova for tourist reasons;

visit - to foreigners who intend to move to the Republic of Moldova to visit Moldovan citizens or foreign citizens holding valid residence permits;

business - to foreigners who intend to travel to the Republic of Moldova for economic or commercial purposes, for contracts or negotiations, to verify the use and operation of goods purchased or sold within the framework of commercial and industrial cooperation contracts, as well as foreigners who are or will become associates or shareholders of a commercial company from the Republic of Moldova;

transport - for foreigners who are going to travel for short periods, in order to carry out professional activities related to the transport of goods or the transport of people;

sports activities - for foreigners who are going to enter the Republic of Moldova for a limited period in order to participate in sports competitions;

cultural, scientific, humanitarian, religious activities, short-term medical treatment, other activities that do not contravene the legislation of the Republic of Moldova - under the conditions of the justification of the presence in the Republic of Moldova.

The requirements and supporting documents for obtaining the type C visa, depending on the purpose of the requested short-stay visa:

C/MI mission:

Tourism C/T:

2. Passport (issued within the last ten years) whose validity exceeds by at least 3 months the expected date for leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova (in the case of minors - additionally the birth certificate and the passport of the legal representative);

4. Booking at a tourist accommodation unit classified under the law or, as the case may be, the maintenance or accommodation commitment (download).Exception: foreigners who obtain visas based on the invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners;

5. The travel itinerary (the tourist route on which the trip is to take place, indicating the localities along the way) or, as the case may be, the maintenance or accommodation commitment (download).

6. The invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners or, as the case may be, the presentation of the residence permit or a valid visa issued by one of the member states of the European Union or of the states party to the Schengen Agreement;

7. Reservation of a round-trip ticket valid to the destination, or the driver's license, green card and registration documents of the means of transport, in the case of drivers;

8. Medical travel insurance valid on the territory of the Republic of Moldova (minimum coverage is 30,000 euros);

9. Proof of means of maintenance during the stay (30 euros/day, for the entire requested period, but not less than 300 euros) or, as the case may be, the maintenance or accommodation commitment (download).

10. Consular fee – 156 AED.

C/V visit:

6. The invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners or, as the case may be, the presentation of the residence permit or a valid visa issued by one of the member states of the European Union or of the states party to the Schengen Agreement;

8. Proof of ensuring the accommodation conditions, in the form of a reservation at an accommodation unit classified under the law, a deed of ownership or rental of a house in the Republic of Moldova in the name of the applicant or, as the case may be, the maintenance or accommodation commitment (download).Exception: foreigners who obtain visas based on the invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners are exempted from the obligation to present the maintenance or accommodation commitment;

7. The invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners or, as the case may be, a residence permit or a valid visa issued by one of the member states of the European Union or of the states party to the Schengen Agreement;

8. Proof of means of maintenance during the stay (30 euros/day, for the entire requested period, but not less than 300 euros) or, as the case may be, the maintenance or accommodation commitment (download).

9. Proof of accommodation conditions, in the form of a reservation at an accommodation unit classified under the law, a deed of ownership or rental of a house in the Republic of Moldova in the name of the applicant or, as the case may be, the maintenance or accommodation commitment (download).Exception: foreigners who obtain visas based on the invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners are exempted from the obligation to present the maintenance or accommodation commitment;

Cultural, scientific, humanitarian activities, short-term medical treatment or other activities that do not contravene national laws C/AD:

9. Consular fee – 156 AED.

Long stay visa (type D) - allows foreigners to enter and stay in the territory of the Republic of Moldova for a period not exceeding 12 months, for one or more stays whose duration will not exceed 90 calendar days during any 180-day period calendar days, which involves taking into account the last period of 180 days preceding each day of stay, which allows the foreigner to request the granting of the right of stay.

 Long-stay visas are granted depending on the activity to be carried out in the Republic of Moldova. The purposes for which long-stay visas can be issued are the following:

• carrying out the activity of an entrepreneur - foreigners who make investments in the national economy, who are or will become shareholders or associates with management and administration duties of some commercial companies from the Republic of Moldova;

• employment - foreigners who are going to enter the Republic of Moldova in order to be employed, foreigners temporarily posted by foreign companies, workers.

• humanitarian or religious activities - for foreigners who are going to enter the Republic of Moldova to carry out activities for humanitarian purposes or in the field of cults recognized on the territory of the Republic of Moldova;

• diplomatic and service activities – for foreigners holding diplomatic or service passports, who are going to perform official functions as members of a diplomatic mission or a consular office in the Republic of Moldova of the state of belonging. These types of visas are issued to holders of diplomatic passports, respectively service passports or similar ones, at the request of the authorized body of the sending state or its diplomatic mission or its consular office, as well as family members with whom the holder lives, and are valid on the period of the mission or in accordance with the bilateral treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party;

• treatment – ​​for foreigners who follow long-term medical treatment, balneosanatorial and recovery;

• activities in the field of information technology - for foreigners who are going to enter the Republic of Moldova to carry out the activity of a manager or one of the activities provided for in art. 8 of Law no. 77/2016 regarding information technology parks to a legal person resident of an information technology park.

The requirements and supporting documents necessary to obtain a type D visa, depending on the type of activity to be carried out in the Republic of Moldova:

Employment D/AM

D/AS studies

3. The confirmation act from the educational institution regarding acceptance to studies;

4. Medical travel insurance, valid for the Republic of Moldova for the entire period of validity of the visa (Minimum coverage - 30,000 euros);

5. Proof of means of maintenance for the entire period entered in the visa (30 euros/day, for the entire requested period, but not less than 300 euros) with the exception of foreigners on scholarships of the Republic of Moldova (in the latter case, proof of holding a scholarship in Republic of Moldova) and participants in student exchange programs;

6. The invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners or, as the case may be, the presentation of the valid residence permit or visa issued by one of the member states of the European Union or of the states party to the Schengen Agreement;

7. Parents' or guardian's agreement regarding the stay for the purpose of studies in the territory of the Republic of Moldova, if the foreigner is a minor;

8. Criminal record certificate translated into English or Romanian;

9. Consular fee – 156 AED.

10. In the case of foreigners participating in a student exchange program, in addition to the listed documents, the following will be presented: the copy of the agreement or understanding between the educational institutions that organize the program and the maintenance or accommodation commitment.

D/VF family reunion

Humanitarian and religious activities D/RU

Diplomatic and service activities D/DS

D/TR treatment

8. Proof of the accompanying capacity of the foreigner who is unable to take care of himself, in the case of the request for visas by the accompanying person of the person undergoing treatment;

9. Consular fee – 156 AED.

  1. 2.      Emergency Travel Document

The travel document is a document that confirms the identity of the person - the citizen of the Republic of Moldova or the person without citizenship - who permanently resides on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and which allows the holder to return to the Republic of Moldova if he does not have a valid travel document.

Travel documents are issued directly by the diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Moldova abroad in case of loss, theft, damage, destruction or expiration of the valid travel document.

The travel ticket is used exclusively for returning to the Republic of Moldova and cannot be used for travel to another country.

The travel document is not recognized by the authorities of other countries except for the purpose of transit to the Republic of Moldova. The MFAIE recommends contacting the authorities of the states to be transited upon returning to the Republic of Moldova in order to know the conditions for crossing the territory of these states based on Moldovan travel documents.

 In order to obtain the travel permit, it is necessary to go to the diplomatic mission and consular office of the Republic of Moldova abroad and present, as a rule, the following documents:

3. an identity document, with a photo, issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova (identity card, driver's license, military book) - original and xerox copy

4. the previous passport, in the original, and the photocopy of the pages with mentions.

5. proof of the local police authorities regarding the complaint of loss or theft (depending on the case) or the statement regarding the loss, theft of the passport

6. receipt for payment of the consular fee-98 AED.

5. consular tax-free

The travel document loses its validity on the date of entry into the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The holder of the travel document should go to the Bureau of Evidence and Documentation of the Population at the place of residence to complete the new passport.

  1. 3.      Legalization

Categories of documents that can be legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, for states that are not members of the Hague Convention of October 1961:

a) civil status documents (certificates of birth, marriage, divorce, death, change/correction of name and first name, extracted from civil status documents and endorsements thereof), issued by civil status offices, previously endorsed by to the Public Services Agency;

b) documents issued by the Public Services Agency (certificates, affidavits, company registration certificates, etc.), with the exception of identity documents from the national passport system;

c) criminal record certificates issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, approved in advance by the Department of Information and Operative Records within the MAI - Iacob Hîncu Street, 3A;

d) study documents issued by the educational institutions of the Republic of Moldova, approved in advance by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova;

e) notarial documents, court decisions and other documents issued by judicial authorities, approved in advance by the Ministry of Justice;

f) certificates issued by the National House of Social Insurance certifying seniority;

g) medical certificates issued by the specialized medical center for the medical examination of emigrants and immigrants, by the national scientific-practical center for preventive medicine/the Center for prophylaxis and combating AIDS;

h) public documents issued by specialized public authorities subordinate to the central public administration;

i) documents issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova in the name of natural and legal persons.

The documents can be presented, in order to be legalized, in person and through a representative, as follows:

1. by notarial power of attorney, drawn up before a notary from the Republic of Moldova;

2. power of attorney drawn up at a diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Moldova abroad;

3. power of attorney drawn up at a foreign public notary, provided that it is subsequently apostilled or legalized; In the case of legal entities, commercial companies, the person who will present himself for the legalization of the documents will have to present the original power of attorney from the company.

First-class relatives - mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife - do not need a power of attorney when submitting documents.

The legalization of the birth documents of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova born in the UAE is free of charges.

  1. 4.      Transcription of civil acts and consular certificates issuance

In order to transcribe civil status documents issued by the competent bodies of the state of accreditation, the applicant must present to the embassy or consulate, as a rule, the following documents:

1. request for transcription of civil status certificate (download)

2. copy, extract or certificate of civil status (of birth, marriage, divorce, death or change of name and/or first name) drawn up by the competent bodies abroad and legalized, as the case may be

The transcription of the birth documents of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova born in the UAE is free of charges.

For the issuance of consular certificates, the applicant must present to the embassy or consulate, as a rule, the following documents:

2. identity documents

3. Consular fee- 137 AED.

Note: The consular fees shall be deposited at a bank cashier of any branch to Embassy’s bank account (can be done the same day). It is mandatory to specify the sender – the beneficiary name of the consular service (ex. John Smith, visa). ATM deposits are not accepted. In case the visa application is submitted by mail/courier (Aramex, DHL, TNT, etc), the payment of the consular fee must be done in advance and attached along with all required documents for the visa application.
